Default Might Winter Drive the Stang: First Time Ever

What do I need to know?
I know the car is not anything special that can't be put through the winter because it's too powerful or expensive, but I would like to know if anyone has any advice before it gets too far into the season.

I have 245/45/17 Sumitomo HTRZ's all the way around, probably not the best winter tires in the history of winter, but I don't have cash for a new set.

Also, I'm running a MAC o/r H, has anyone had rust issues with this midpipe? Would a full underbody spray from a body shop prevent any rust issues from forming over a course of just one winter?

Again, the car saw winters under its first owners until I bought it in the fall of '04, but I'm not sure I'm goign to have the cash to get a ****ter for this winter.

I would not winter drive a mustang at all without snow tires. Get a POS or walk.

Put some weight in the trunk also. Keep an eye open for some cheap all weather tires to put on the car or at least for the rear. You would be surprised on how much a good tire will help you get through snow.

I live in California.....I don't have to worry!!!jkjkjkjh anyways, you could always go get a pair of used all weather tires for hella cheap! I don't know if I'd do that but just a suggestion!

i have always had to drive mine in winter, 5 mustangs and no winter wrecks. here's what i learned: weight in the trunk (150 lbs + ), full tank gas(more weight), good a/s rear tires, and plan your route avoid places in bad snow with a lot of hills/inclines (you'll get stuck). The best thing EVER! I have learned if you do get stuck keep a 4' shovel in the trunk, that has saved me on many inclines. Dig out about 7' in front of back tires that will get you the traction you need to build up mometum.
Good Luck.

exactly

I drove my mustang in the winter when I lived in new york with just cheap all season tires. Driving slowly/carefully is key. I always sprayed water under the car to wash off the salt. Haven't had any rust issues.

^ What they said. : ) I've been driving a Stang in the Winter for 4 years. I avoid hills especially if there is a stop light at the top of one!!! Not a happening thing. If you have an automatic, use the gears.
