Default Isolators in or out...?

so my car is dropped with tokico shocks struts and springs.. i have no idea how much my car is lowered because i searched and i cant find it anywhere! anyway, i scrape things as it is, but i still have wheel gap and it annoys the crap outta me. SO, when my car was on the lift, i noticed that my TOP & BOTTOM isolators were still in there..

question is, if i were to take off both the top & bottom isolators from each spring, aboutt how much more would my car drop down? my lip and my midpipe scrape on certain things but only occasionally. so it wont really be an issue i dont think. i want that perfect stance

also, when i do go about taking these off (will happen once i put my new wheels on for spring ) do i need to wrap both ends of the spring with duct tape? will the duct tape rip?

and lastly, how long will this take about? im doing all the work with my sister's bf, i just want to know how in depth it is. like 4 hours? thanks guys

you can wrap the coils with electrical tape so it won't make noise. Not sure how much it will drop, but I'll guess its around another 1/2"

electrical tape huh? would that be better than duct tape? ive heard of duct tape. never heard of electrical tape but im sure it would work.. i just dont want anything ripping so that i get a metal on metal contact sound on every bump i hit

1/2" you think?!? i would be happy with 1/4" lol. but 1/2" would look nicer

Well, both the isos are a 1/4" thick each, so if they are both off you drop 1/2".
I'm dropping mine now and my bottom isos are both shot and the tops are squished pretty good to almost ripping.

I called Ford about getting new ones, so at $66 for four isos... Did you say you can use duct tape to wrap the springs???

well thats just what i heard. i heard that you can just tape the ends so that there is no metal on metal contact... that would make a really annoying sound. i would imagine if you just wrap them well enough, there would be no problems.

and each iso is really 1/4" thick?!?! so another 1/2" drop all around?! sh*t.. should look REALLY nice

Duct, or electrical, tape will last about a week under the 850 lbs or so dynamic load they would be subjected to. Tape the ends if it makes you feel better but don't expect it to last.

FWIW, Jeg's has the BBK isolators:
  • Item# 129-2546 BBK Rear Spring Isolators $19.99
  • Item# 129-2545 BBK Front Spring Isolators $29.99

so than what would you suggest for me to do? i really wanna drop my car just a little bit and taking the isolators out would accomplish this. i dont want the tape to rip up and become useless... i just thought that people said it works

what are my options here?

just cut the spring. take 1/4 of a coil off, put it back and see what it looks lik. if it is not low enough, do it again.then when you find the stance that you like, do the rest of them the same way. that eway you can keep the isolators and not be driving around in a car that is making all kind of noise.

ehhh. im too nervous to cut my springs.. if they were stock, maybe i wouldnt be as much of a B*tch, but id really rather not get into the whole cutting grinding thing.
