Newb Question - V6 or GT
I'm sure a thread like this has been made before, but I couldn't find anything via the Search function. I posted in the New Member section, but was referred here, so I'll just copy/paste.
Here's my current situation: I'm 17 and I'm looking into a Mustang as my first car. I've wanted the New Edge (99-04) since they came out when I was a kid, so that's what I'm shooting for. Here's the real question: I have the cost of the car covered, and the gas/insurance is being paid for by my parents for now. If I'm going to be doing regular street driving and racing my friends, (not taking it to the track, probably not even a quarter mile test for a while, considering my age) would it be worth my money to get the GT? On other forums I sometimes hear people say that the V6 is underpowered and that it's only worth it to get the GT. I keep switching back and forth, so it would help if you could bring me some advice.
tl;dr Is the GT worth the money for regular driving/some racing?
I know since I'm in the 4.6L section, it may be a little biased. But try to put yourself in my situation and give an honest answer. Thanks!

I had a '67 with a 289 all stock and a '71 with a 429 not so stock at your age. Both were fun cars to drive and got looks, but I liked my '71 Mustang the best and nothing beat the roar of that damn built 429 when I got on it.
Go with a GT.

Your friends will flame you for driving a v6......(well, maybe not, but i sure *** hell would). If money is not a problem and mom & pops got you covered on the other, you're good. Just look at it this way, how will you explain it to your friends when you're out and about one night and a chick pulls up beside you in her GT and hands you your nuts giftwrapped? Not cool buddy, Not cool. I vote GT FTW
