Default Understeer/Oversteer problems?

i haven't weighed out my options yet, but come christmas time, i'll be ordering myself some new wheels...

since i'm going 17x10.5 in the back, if i were to have 17x8 or 17x9 up front, i may only put 255's on there.. will a 315 in the back cause problems with a 255 up front??

i know i can go 275's but idk if thats what i want to do.. i just dont know if im goign to bc 275's dont fit on an 8" wheel i believe..

so will i get any steering issues or anything with 255's up front on an 8" or 9" rim, with 315's out back?

Are you going to be running the same tires on each wheel?

Having a smaller tire up front could cause understeer because there is more grip in the rear. It will depend on how sticky the tires are though.

Do you auto x? You probably won't notice it if you don't.

+1 unless you are pushing your car pretty hard you wont notice. but you will probably cause a bit more understeer just because of the grip difference.

haha damn. I couldn't deal with that. For a while I was running Azenis up front and Nittos in the rear. It oversteered like hell but I would rather oversteer. Matching tires all around FTW!

i'll be running dunlops (255/40/17) up front and the nitto (315/35/17) extreme performance street radial in the back...

no i dont auto-x but my car is definetly set up for it i think.. it handles nicely. i do want to go one day

Kenne Brown -FLSFC
x brace

steeda front swaybar

tokico shocks/struts/lowering springs

MM CC plates

prob a thing or two i missed but i bought it with all of this stuff arleady on.. i THINK that would classify me as being able to turn better than most.. idk though

That front sway will probably cause you to understeer especially running the wider (stickier?) tires out back.

that would only be in hard turning corners and such though right??

and as for the sway bar.. i was told that its causing my tires to wear very quickly on the outside part of the tread bc it is so big... true or false?? i was told i should get a bumpsteer kit...

and with the list of suspension mods done to my car, how do you think i would do in auto crossing? good? or do i need some more stuff.. i love taking corners but sometime i feel like my car loses it with my tires.. do i need more suspension mods or do you think front tires are the issue

Ya that would only be in hard corners. The swaybar may cause this but I can't say for sure. A car with a suspension set up like ours loses camber in turns. When you corner hard you are on the outside edge of your tire. Adding negative camber will help this but you will wear the inside edges more daily driving. How many degrees of camber do you have?

I think at auto x you would do decently. The tires are a big part though. Sticky tires will make a huge difference. I wouldn't just run stickier tires up front. I would run them all around. There aren't many 315 options for street tires though. You have Nitto's, Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's, Sumitomo's (blah), BFG KD's (if you can find them around still).

Out of those I would go for the Goodyears but they are ridiculously priced. if you get into auto x, it is probably better for you to just get some spare wheels and run 275's all around.
