I'm going for a PHB/TA set up. The IRS will ride better though. Either way you will handle better. I like the idea of doing with some ****ty stick axle though. I didn't want the extra weight and paying for all the bushings. Some people love the IRS and some people have gone back to SRA on the Mach forums.

With a TA you are suppose to run much stiffer springs in the rear.

EDIT: Exhaust was another thing...

For the record, if you have a problem with posting here, due to lack of knowledge, then don't post.

I own both an SRA Mustang and an IRS Cobra. I know for a fact my Cobra would walk all over my GT on a road course. I also know the IRS can be launched on extremely hard, and it won't cause any damage. As long as there is no wheel hop, you are fine.

I've seen a lot of KB Cobra's on the stock IRS launch very hard, many times, and nothing has happened. Some don't even have any bracing. It all depends on the driver, and how it is launched when dragging.

Overall, if you are looking for a road racing car, get the IRS. If you are looking for a car that can handle well, and drag very well, go SRA.

But was your GT equipped with a Panhard/Torque Arm set up? Probably not. Obviously stock for stock the IRS handles better.

Well if im not mistaken, there is no difference between coilover setups, whether they are being used for drag racing or if they are being used for road racing/auto-x. so any brand should work. And you just have to look around for ones that will fit the shocks/struts you have. MMR makes their front coilovers for Tokico struts, but their backs dont say that they will fit tokicos. So i would just do some checking around. You are bound to find something. Im planning on going with MMR coilovers all around sometime in the future.

No, but my Cobra is lowered, all of the bushings have been replaced, I have a Front and Rear STB(Rear is welding in the trunk), so, yeah. I Plus, the drop is around 2 inches, and 2.3-2.5 in the rear. Read my sig. My cobra is set up for Road Racing.

I understand that. But that is even worse. Now you are comparing an IRS car modded for handling against an SRA car that didn't have any SRA mods.

Either way, WE ALL KNOW STOCK FOR STOCK AN IRS IS A BETTER HANDLING REAR END THAN AN SRA. You can equip a panhard, LCA's, UCA's, and other things on an SRA, and just add bushings on the IRS to make it even, if not better.

Moving on, IRS is meant for Road Racing, but can ALSO be drag raced on.

SRA's are meant for straight line performance, but can ALSO be road raced with no or minor mods.

Yes we do know that. I already said that the IRS is better stock.

He is asking about a modded 99 IRS vs a modded SRA.

We should give him information based on that.

Either way he will be happy with the handling I think.

A modded 99 IRS will be a better handling application. There are a lot of factors when choosing a suitable rear-end. A Modded SRA will handle well, but not AS WELL as a modded IRS. They both have their ups and downs. It will come down to what you want. Do you plan on road racing your car? Do you plan on Road Racing it and Drag racing it?

I will put my full drag suspension set up against an IRS on a road course any day and would destroy it. IRS is a waste of money to install when parts are sold to make an SRA handle like crazy.
