Default Clutch Quadrant/Firewall Adjuster

Ever since i got my car last year, i can NOT stand my clutch.. i was thinking about buying a new one for my birthday in february, but i really dont NEED one.. stocker is fine as it is. im just sick of how it grabs and releases at different positions.. and its just an all around sloppy clutch. i have never felt any clutch like it.. my friends STI, my other friends mazda6, my other friends 300zx, etc ALL feel stiff compared to mine.. WHY?!?!

my friend got a Centerforce DFX clutch with some kinda firewall adjuster and quadrant, and i drove his car, and thats how i want my car to feel.. it grabs nicely and at the same point every single time. my clutch grabs fine and everything, but it is so sloppy that it makes me feel like my clutch is going...

anyway, i just want to make sure that i am allowed to put an aftermarket quadrant/firewall on my stock clutch?? and if so, what is the best to go with or are they all the same??

i think there is a double hook quadrant and a triple?? which one is better and why?

if this is a quick fix, im going to try it--- if it doesnt work, than ill just buy a new clutch and use the firewall adjuster/quadrant i just bought (correct right? i can re-use these 2 items if i decide to get a new clutch?)

sorry guys -- i am ridiculously dumb with these kinda things but i am learning

and ill most likely do the quadrant/firewall with my friend if he knows how. is it a hard job? how long?

thanks guys!!

mine felt the same way, i went and bought the steeda kit and now my clutch feels like new. def do the kit before you spend the cash on the clutch.

as for time it took about an hour to install but i took out the seat (that made it much easyer to install the quadrent) and about 15 mins to adjust the firewall adjuster to where it felt good to me. but with help i dont see why it would take more than 30 mins

your fine to put it on the stock clutch, its just a different means of adjustment compared to the factory ratchet mechanism.

The double-hook and triple hook are basically the same thing, I have heard that Steeda had patented the 2-hook design so UPR made the 3-hook. The multiple hooks let you optimise the balanace between the cable anchor point (hook) and the firewall adjuster's extension when using the OEM fixed length cable (recommended by most as superior to the aftermarket adjustable cables).

I have UPR's 3-hook quadrant, and their Extreme QuickClick adjuster, could not be more pleased. If I had realised what a difference it would make it would have been my first mod.

Call them up and tell you want to pay $50 for the triple hook and the quickclick adjuster--they will accomodate you.

thanks a lot guys...

$50 if i tell them that that is all i have to spend?!?! thats like a steal lol

AM is like $80 if i piece together the items..

this is definetly worth a shot. hopefully it will tell me that my clutch is perfectly fine and its just the garbage stock pieces that are making me think differently

JR, i thought you bought a new clutch?? you said your clutch feels new with these new pieces on there, but why would you buy a new clutch?? im asking out of curiosity. not busting on you in any way, shape, or form. and are you saying that you bought the steeda kit from AM?? cuz i dont think you need an adjustable cable.. the stock one is fine from what i've heard, correct?

cliffyk, is this the kit that you bought??

http://www.uprproducts.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=1613

that is all that i would need, right? ^^^^

and this is a DUMB question i bet, but does it matter what color i get?? you cant see the damn things unless you are under the dash correct?

and if i do try to call and ask if i can get those 2 items (or package, w/e) for $50, how do i go about doing so?? SORRY, im really bad with this kinda stuff.. im only 18, so im still livin and learnin lol.. what do i say? "i was wondering if there is anyway that i can get this package for $50?" what if they ask why lol

is there any advantage/disadvantage to a double lock firewall adjuster as opposed to one thats not?

I used my stock cable and added a firewall adjuster and it worked out great. Just had to cut off the stock cable firewall stop so that it would fit inside the firewall adjuster, now I have a lot of adjustment to use should I need it because with this setup the firewall adjuster is only turned out about 2 threads with about 12 more to use should I need it.

i bought the steeda kit before i bought the clutch because spec recomends the use of an after market quadrent and a firewall adjuster. a while back my lincoln was hit and i got about 2000.00 from it and i bought the clutch, diff, bearings ect....... but i didnt have the cash for the install.

so one day i was bored and installed the steeda kit and when i was done my clutch felt like new (before the kit i had to push it all the way to the floor) so the clutch install went on the back burner. after reading so many bad reviews on the stage 1 i wanted to sell it.

then a couple of weeks ago we had our 1st snow and i rear ended a guy at a red light and i felt that my bald bridgestone potenzas played a big part in the accident so i sold the clutch and some other parts so i could get a new set of tires, i didnt get enough cash from selling the parts to buy my nittos so i had to settle with what i could afford and bought a set of sumitomo HTR Z's
