To stangs. I'm 16 and I get my license soon! I have to pay for my own car, But I have almost 10k saved up! Im going to buy an 02' GT.

I was wondering how much power I could get out of these upgrades:

-Cold air intake
-Pypes X-pipe
-removed Cats
-Straight pipes out the back

Theres Some rich spoiled kid at school with an 07' WRX Sti. Hes got upgraded exhaust, chipped, intake, and a few other things. But is running stock boost.

I really wanna kick the **** outta him when I get my Stang. Would these upgrades be enough?

It would be very much appreciated

Hey kid congrats on buyin your mustang. First off best bang for the buck will be gears. 410's are the way to go.

Congrats on the new GT!

Those mods won't cut it by a long shot man. Soldier is telling you right, get some 4.10s. If you have any money left over, get drag radials too, you'll need them with those gears.

It'll be a completely different car with those gears. I didn't improve off the line too much with mine, simply because you can't launch but so hard on street tires, but they will still get you into your powerband MUCH faster. I picked up 3-4 mph and dropped a few tenths off my quarter mile time with practice. With DRs, you're looking at a huge gain off the line and through out the race.

I know im really not supposed to say this legally. But theres this abandoned neightborhood near my house. Thats where we race. Theres this road that's split into two and it runs for a quarter mile. Theres also alot of turns ou there that we use for a road course. Haha. So..

Gears should be your first mod and then exhuast, IMO. Oh yeah, will you be buying a auto or manual?

uh be careful with that street racing or you wont have a mustang for long. just be smart if your going to do it and pick your spots.

do exhaust, gears, suspension

do you want your car to be manual or auto?

Manual you will have more power. I agree with everyone, 410 is the best bang for the buck and then if you get some DR you have a sick launch. With the mods you listed you are probably looking at 240HP at the wheels maybe with a manual trans roughly. at stock mustang with a manual to the wheels i think is 230 correct me if im wrong anyone. you lose 15% through the drivetrain with a manual and 20 with a auto again not 100% sure on that.

But also if you get a manual you are not going to be racing anytime soon. It takes a while to get normal driving down. Shifting fast is very hard at first to get your timing down. Dont go race this kid 2 weeks after you get your mustang. your gunna **** up your trans and bounce the Rev Limiter. im telling you right now.

But im not too familiar with the other kids car you want to beat but, HP cost money, lots of money so depending how fast that kid is you could have a awhile before you race him. But being a good driver really really helps. You can make all the power in the world and he will beat you if you dont know how to drive your car. take your time learning to drive the car, there is no rush.

10,000 is awesome. congrats on saving that up. i bought my 02 GT for 10,000. You can even find them cheaper with low miles now a days. its definitely a buyers market right now.

By the way i think you should get a Manual. you'll have more fun with it.

Edit***
Also i think you should buy a short throw shifter as well right off the bat. that will help you learn manual a lot better i think. you wont be missing 3rd gear like most of us do with the stock shifter.
