Default What shift ***** work with the steeda triax?

I just got my beautiful white ball shifter **** and lo and behold, the threading is way to small to ever fit on my steeda. i found one place that sells billiard style ***** but I REALLY dont want to pay 60$ for the darn **** if I dont have to. Is there anything I can do to find it cheaper? Would it be possible to convert it over? I thought the steedas had the 12mm threading and that is what i ordered.
