Default Longtube Problems, need help

there may be an install for this somewhere but i have been unable to find it, I am replacing my motor and I bought a set of SLP Longtubes, the passenger side went in easy, but I cannot get the driver side to set in, does anyone know if the steering shaft will go thru the headers or is there enough room for it to slide past, my headers are gapped as if to allow for the steering shaft. It feels like I can almost get it but i either hit the body or the brake master cylinder, any advice would be very helpful. I am putting my motor in from the top, not by dropping the k member so it changes things a little.

hey thanks guys i was hoping it didn't but, at least i know now, yeah the motor swap isn't that bad other than having to do it in the driveway cause i'm broke, id rather swap the motor than change the heater core like i did last weekend. anybody got any tricks for clearing the body to blot up the header?

Did you take the shaft out? I kno when I pulled my motor I took the shaft off the rack and set it aside. I also had my hood off.

yeah i got my hood off and i pulled the motor out trannie and all, i went to take the steering shaft loose but it has a stop on it and it won't let me slide it off, does the whole shaft come loose from the fire wall? i have the motor 3/4 of the way back in, but my problem is the header needs to be pushed up about an inch and im hitting the floor pan, but if i drop the motor into the bay more then the header gets hung up on the brake master cylinder and i can't manuver it on.

The shaft is going to have to come off.

i took the shaft loose on the axle side, now it swings free, does the whole rack come loose from the fire wall?

I'm a little confused as to why you are getting caught up on the firewall. Could you get some pictures or something. When I did my motor swaps, I always take the trans out first, it makes ploppin that motor in the SO much easier

not really getting hung up on the fire wall, it's more like the floor pan on the bottom, i have the motor raised up so i can get the pipe up to the block, the front part of the header lines up fine, the back (firewall side) needs to be pushed up an inch to line up with the holes, but when i push it up it hits the floor pan and i cannot go any further, i know the motor needs to be dropped in more to clear this, but when i lower the motor down the brake master cylinder prevents me from sliding the header in, i am at work all day but i plan on working on it a soon as i get home, but if i can't get it i'll try to post some pics.
