hi my cousin committed suicide on january 1st this year and i got his mustang. i would love for anyone to help tell me about this car. i dont know much about mustangs only 4x4 jeeps so now im getting into mustangs. it is a 2001 gt. so im assuming it has the 4.6 sohc 2v modular engine. it appears to have an 8.8 rear axle. and i would be guessing but i think it is a tremec tr3650 transmission..the interior is gutted and the carpet is gone. i have all the interior pieces though. also the hood doesnt latch. if you could help me that would be much appreciated

as for the car, i'm not 100% sire but i think ford started to put tremic on 03 and 04 models, so yours is probably T45. the hood latch might just need to be lubed.

 

i think they changed to a tremec in mid 01.

 

um, they've been using Tremec's (Borg&Warner) transmissions for decades

yes the 01's have the 3650.

and AZ is right, they are ALL tremecs...just different models.
