Default First Mustang Break Job..help please..

I believe i need to do a break job on my 2000 GT. I have never changed the breaks on this car in the 3 yrs that i have had it. I noticed the rear breaks seem to make a scraping sound when i apply the breaks.

I went to Advance auto parts the other day and picked up the "mid grade" semi metalic pads. On of my front rotors has a pretty decent groove in it also. I would like to have them turned but i cant seem to find out if they can actually be turned or not??

Can anyone tell me if the stock rotors can be turned??

If not i am going to need new rotors. Adavance has them for 36 a peice plus i already paid 85 for the break pads.

My next question is can i just get a kit from ebay to throw on the car??Are these kits total crap or are they decent??

I can get the whole ebay kit cheaper than everything from advance auto parts so i wonder if i should just do that.. Help is appreciated.. Thanks.

Ebay has pimp slotted/drilled rotors for like $105 for all 4.

You can turn a stock rotor just fine. And you don't have to buy a pair if only one is messed up.

Ok, well you found them in that link. 2 of my buddies have those rotors and really like them from what I've heard.

Ya i know. But i am weird about things matching. I would rather buy two so they match.

I just want to make sure i am not buying junk that i will regret.

I know the brakes on my GT are not high performance by any means. But i def dont want to get something that is going to have weak braking and make noise and that might not last as long either..

So your freinds seem to think the rotors are decent?

It's brakes not breaks. You can turn them depending on how far they've worn or if they've been turned before. Find out the minimum thickness (usually right on the rotor) and then measure them with a measuring caliper.
For $36 a piece, I would just buy new ones though.

Those rotors are going to perform better than the Duralast/Valuecraft stuff from the parts store.

And replacing 1 rotor isn't going to be anything that's not gonna match or look funny. But if you got the cash it wouldn't hurt. lol
