first time at the track
so i took my car out to the track for the first time last night. i didnt embarrass myself but i think i could have drove the car faster. it was my buddys first time out too in his gt, he ran two 14.1's and a 13.9. we only got 3 runs in on the night. while i was waiting for my 4th a car decided to drive into the sand trap and not turn off the track. then right after they finished cleaning up that a s197 mustang gt with a crappy tune blew his roots blower into his hood and his crank shaft out his oil pan. i decided that was a good time to leave lol.
here are my times.
1st run = 15.07@95.3
2nd run = 14.85@96.2
3rd run = 14.62@96.4
also seeing that car **** all over itself makes me rethink s/c. im starting to think about longtubes and cams on stock heads now....

I get better 60' times by not running 1st all the way to redline, but rather short shifting at about 4500 rpm. This reduces or eliminates wheelspin going into 2nd. At what rpm do you launch off the line?
i cant even remember honestly, i staged and then it went green. if i planned it would have been 3k, i probably naturally launched around like 2500. i also wasnt doing a burnout, just cleaning the tires off. i have f1 dsg3's.

not bad times. i am thinking about taking my GT to the track for the first time this spring.
I was debating the S/C vs Cam but am still leaning towards S/C, just go with a conservative tune and 8psi intercooled. Not trying to 'push' it to 400whp, try and keep it around 370-380.
Although, a cammed engine sounds WAY WAY sexy.

im soo glad to live near a nice track that can yield good times. I would not be happy with that haha. once you go to the track more youll learn not to care about the other people and go on your time. next time you go just focus on your rpm and launch and dont bother to try and leave on the green light (stage first so you have the time to get ready and no rush). youll start to feel more normal and then you can start trying to get some good rt's. its all about seat time.
I'm still boycotting the sh*tty track they have in our area.
To the OP, just keep going and getting your track time in. Getting quality seat time in is what you need to figure out what your car responds well to.
