Default used gears

Is it OK to put in used gears. I have a chance to buy some 4.10s with about 3k miles on them and he said they have no wear. What do you guys think?

3k isn't bad, if you have pictures some of the senior members could help out a lot more. but i would say do it since they only have 3k!

He's asking 80 bucks I guess is is putting in 3.73s because he keeps adding horsepower for the track, but I'm not sure on that.

No pics they are still in the car, I figured that we can do a swap at a shop.

80 bucks is a good price for 3k old gears, take a look at them. If he is a friend then he most likely would not screw you on propose...

BTW your sig, you need after it to make it show up

He is making something like 650 rwhp and he needs to shift into fifth gear with his current 4.10's.

Do you know this guy? That would be my first question. He's telling you that they only have 3k on them, but in all honesty they could have alot more and could be damaged. It's your decision, but you should keep saviing and just by some new ones. That's my $0.02

I don't see anything wrong with buying used gears as long as they are still in good condition, and if they have only been in the car for 3k I'd say go for it.

I recently bought some used 3.73's from WhiteFoxGT that were in Dimebags car for $70 (I think) They are in great condition no cracks, chips, bad grooves or anything. I don't know how many miles are on them but they are good for me!!! and also with me not having much money being in school and all.

I also know a bunch of people that have bought used gears and haven't had the first problem out of them.

Just my .02
