Thumbs up Good Deal???

A friend of mine is thinking of picking up an 01 GT. It is white with black leather interior and it has a manual and chrome Cobra rims. From the "pictures" it looks great. I ran a carfax and the title came out clean. The only downside is it has a little more than 120,000 miles. The Seller is asking $5,488. What do you guys think? Personally, it sounds like a decent deal, but I'd like to hear some input from those that have the 4.6's.

And here is a red one he is also considering. But it is an auto. But it does have 95,000 miles. The price though seems a little high for his under 6G price range.

1 question.....Why would your friend want a car with so many miles on it when there are plenty of GT's out there with less then 50k??

Edit: Also what does he plan on using this car for? drag strip, auto x what?

He wants a new edge body style, but is not willing to fork over the cash for one with less than 70,000 miles. As for his plans, he just wants a Mustang. I told him to get a 5.0 and do what I did. But he does not care about speed. He just wants a sporty cruiser. If the car is maintained, I do not see any problem with the miles. Heck I have just under 100,000 miles and the car runs strong. But then again, I baby it and bought it from the original owner: my aunt and uncle.

That's the problem. He first didn't care about the V6 or V8. But after I tempted him into saying the V8 mustangs were faster, relatively fuel efficient and sound great, he has shunned the V6 out of his head and is determined to get a V8. I will take the blame on this one. Also, all the V6's around here have the same miles and going for the same price as a GT. You might as well step up to a V8 for the same price, IMO

Well if out of the 2 I had to pick, I would take the white one.

Thanks for your replies. Yeah, he seems set on the white one. When he goes to look at the two I am going with him to make sure the cars are decent and running good. Another friend of mine owned a 98 GT with 134,000 miles and it seemed to be running strong. I am just wondering if the 4.6's are relaible with those high miles?

There very reliable. Just make sure when he gets it to do a good tune up on it because who the hell knows when the last time one was done on the car.

hmm doesnt seem like a bad deal, however you could most likely wait a bit and find one with less miles for under 7k.
