Default Do cold air intakes do anything for the mustang?

Hey guys, just purchased a 02 Mustang GT, already made a long list of parts to put into it.

Was considering a cold air intake from ebay just to dress up the engine bay a little bit since it's only $50.

I know on the 4.6's a CAI will add almost no horsepower, but just out of curiousity, how many horsepower will an ebay intake actually add and will it make the car sound any better?

Thanks!

All CAI only make you feel good when you open your hood.

You cannot hear the CAI on your mustang. and like you said you will get very little power its hard to say an exact number since it always varies, but you won't notice it. many people cut a big chunk out of the factory "air box" (plastic that covers the air filter) and that is going to do about the same as most cai's, but it looks pretty tacky. even the ones that go into your fender are pretty worthless as far as power goes.

They're good for soaking up some engine heat and looking good while doing it.

it'll make your engine bay looks pretty and make your wallet lighter... it MIGHT give you a few horses on a dyno

The OEM intake IS a CAI, and a 1/2 way decent one at that--I have never seen any back-to-back dyno runs where the only change was the airbox/pre-MAF tubing--any at all--let alone any that indicated there was power gained...

The JLT ram air intake helped a little but not much, $50 isnt bad.
