Default HELP! Transmission

ok, so i have been all over this god forsaken internet and still dont know what transmission is in my 2001 Mustang GT.

My Transmission went out in my stang with only 100,000 miles on it. so now im driving a 93 plymouth duster. i am sick of chrysler. i need to get my tranny rebuilt because no junkyards have that new of a mustang and im not forking out 1700 for a new one.

The door jam says "U" Under "TR"

what ive got so far is that its probably the 4R70W or the Tremec TR-3650

My Mustang Was manufactered in 4/2001

can anybody help

thanks

is your car an auto or a 5 speed because te 4r70w is an auto and the tr 3650 is a 5 speed. I believe the TR code is for the 3650 but I'm not sure

is it an auto or a manual? The 4R70W is auto and the 3650 in a 5 sp manual. I may be mistaken, but i thought think the 2001's had the t45.

so if its a 4r70w then what was the other transmission they put in 2001's? Because i found somewhere online that they put one transmission in 1/2001 - 3/2001 and then put the new one in starting with the late marchs or aprils?

im not testing your judgement i just need to know for sure before i go out and buy a rebuild kit for it.

Thats the t45 and t3650 that jvog was referring to. They changed from the 45 to the 3650 in mid 01. But only manual, the 4R70W has been the same from 96-04.
