hoss if you spend 250-300 for a teksid block your out of your mind. the teksid block from a 93-98 lincoln mark 8 can be found on many mark 8 forums for 50-100 dollars and they are 75 lbs lighter. you can find the whole engine complete for 300-500. what i was saying about buying a built block is this one is 2100.00 HERE

by the time you spend lets say 400.00 for a used engine,
spend another 7-800.00 for block cleaning, new freeze plugs, magnaflux to check for cracks, decking the block ,boring the block over , checking to see if the mains are strait, checking the crank,
buying new rings, main bearings, rod bearings and oil pump thats another 500-600.00 youve spent close to 1800.00 why the hell not spend the extra 300.00 for a ballanced, and blue printed short block with forged pistons???? it just doesnt make much sense. unless you just want to brag to everybody that you built your own engine.

11.5 - 12.1 compressions pistons
ported trickflow heads
CMS stage 2.5 or stage 3 cams
trickflow intake (massaged a little of course)
93 (at least) octane tune

now that wouldnt be a bad 'spare' motor for my '01 vert
thats gotta be an all motor car or those things would snap like toothpicks . (rods), provided you spun it above 7k rpms, which you would like to do weather you boost it or not.

(obvsly it is compression ratio.)

but wouldn't that stroke prevent you from spinning the motor high at all?

EDIT: lol its late, i was thinking you were going from 4.6 to 5.3, i now realize you're starting with the 305ci 5.0 mod motor sorry lol.

I promise..i would never come close to spending that amount of money on a damn rebuild... you could buy a reman from ford for cheaper than that.

or you could buy the $100 teksid and http://www.dssracing.com/ProductDeta...tCode=PNR46SXI

thats $1120, whats the point of getting forged pistons if you don't need them?(im sure u could find like stock replacement NPI bottom end for cheaper.)

i wouldn't even magnaflux a teksid block, i've never even heard of one cracking, i can't say i've looked, also, pricing is a little cheaper around here, or atleast the shops i've got quoted at, have been around $500 for most of the stuff on that list, he would not need new rings/rod and main bearings since they are included. a mod oil pump will run u $45-$70.

then why wouldnt you just buy a used motor and drop it in??? you'll never rebuild a 4.6 the right way for 600.00. machine work alone will break the 600.00 dollar mark. im rebuilding a 3.8 for my firebird right now and the best price ive got for hot tanking the block, checking it for cracks, boring , line honing, freeze plugs, checking the main bearings for alighnment, checking the crank and checking the pistons is 725.00. and rebuilding the heads and a 3 angle valve job is another 175.00. on top of all that the bearings, rings, oil pump and gaskets is another 1000.00. im not trying to dog on you but what your saying just doesnt make any sence.
