no it doesn't...it needs to be cleaned and re -oiled from time to time (like every 25-50K miles). They sell a kit for that and just follow the instructions....moved to the right section and welcome to the forum!

The kit is $12.99 at AutoZone. It has a cleaner and an oiler. I just bought a K&N filter two days ago. So in the next few months I will be getting the kit and cleaning it. Don't want to waste $60 for nothing.
