Exclamation Diff Noise

Hey Guys

I have had a noise coming from my rear end, on my car. It is the worst when slowing down. I put my car up on jacks and spun the tiers and the U joint does something like the gears are just nicking one another. Maybe hitting every 1/4 turn, but not meshing. Is this my limited slip? I'm taking my diff cover off this weekend to take a look.

Thanks,

Ha Ha Ha
Why put grease where you have a diff full of oil? It's definitely more than just the U joint.

how many miles do you have on your car? is it the stock differential? i had the same thing happen with my diff at about 70k miles, but i was needing to build the rear end up anyway so i just went with a completely new setup (Eaton posi, Moser 31 spline axles). try changing your differential fluid (use the friction modifier additive) and see if that helps. if not, you may need to rebuild the differential (or replace it depending on what you plan to do with the car down the road).

Noise: Clicking while decelerating from 20 miles per hour to a complete stop
Cause:Worn carrier case-side gear bores

I think this is closest to what I have going on. That's a handy guide.

So now what?

My car has 83k on it. I have the stuff to do a fluid change on it, with additive. That will probably happen this week to next weekend. At that time we will see what we can see. I have been looking at replacing the limited slip anyway and I have 3:73's to go in too. It will probably be an all in one job.
