im thinking about getting a header for my 03 mustang gt. I need some suggestions on what kind of a header should i get such as a short header or long header and at a reasonable price.

Definantely do long tubes. If you want a reasonably priced long tube header, i would consider Mac or BBK.

You will also need a matching shorty mid pipe for the long tubes.

I have BBK's and love them... no issues... just great sound and power.

you might want to get a pair of headers, one won't work too well
If you are going to do it definitely go with long tubes

Are long tubes really worth it? Not to jack the thread but for someone that isn't planning on heavly moding (midpipe, catback, gears, TB/plenum) is it really worth it?

Yes.
Unless you plan on doing the install yourself which is a pain in the *** btw, it can become pretty expensive once you include labor into the equation

Well with the long tubes alone (already had an h pipe..just swaped it for a shorty h) my peak n/a gain was only 6 rwhp & 6 rwtq, but it was more like 10 rwhp & rwtq throughout the entire poweband. On nitrous i gained 33 rwhp & 73 rwtq.

You have to understand that the peak #'s with long tubes on a bolt on only stang are not much greater than shorties, but the area under the curve will be a little better, and the sound alone will be much better.

you get a decent gain from them, I think I've seen around 10 to 12 for the average.
Shorties are a waste in my opinion
