engine swap help

i was looking at putting the new 3 valve motor in my 96 mustang gt or even a cobra or mach 1 motor in. i was just wandering the things that would not cross over such as i know the computer box will have to change in the vehicle due to diffrent data but do i need the wireing harness to change as well? what other things would have to be changed?
i am under the impression i can pull a 3 valve motor from the newer modles with its computer box and be fine....is this nieve of me?

3v motor will be very difficult with the digital throttle.

A cobra motor is your best bet.

the 3V will be fine, but I doubt you can keep the VVT (Variable valve timing) The Throttle body will have to be switched out for a cable design rather then electronic.

That bening said, HOSS is right the 4V motor will require less tweaking and make more power.

Not really.. the stock harness would work with little modification, and the stock computers its self would be fine, however a tune would be needed.

Im planning on doing a motor swap on my 2v to make it a 32 valve 4v dohc 4.6 and im getting the motor from a donor lincoln mark IIIV its the same as a cobra motor only its half the price and doesnt come with the blower but im looking at how to mount it right now since its almost the same motor :)

If you are going to spend the $$$ on a 4v why not just go with a built 4.6 2v or 5.4 - then it is just plug and play. You can make plenty of power with either.

a built 2v is alot Im looking at a lincol whole car so i can use it as my insurance car for a 1000 so it has everything needed for the swap all i need is motor mounts, few other things but i mean that lincoln motor is like 289hp and then with a cobra blower when i figure out how to make it work will be like 390hp with different pullies few other mods thats a 500hp motor for less than a built 2v :D
