Default Problem

Hey guys i have a 03 GT and i recently noticed that every now and then when im in 5th gear going around 60 or 70 my traction light will come on (that green tire) im not sure what can be causing it. I did change the gears to 3.73's but i did get it done professionally and i just noticed this problem recently. I've only had it happen once while i was in fourth gear and it seems that it only happens while the RPM's are low...like 1.5 or so... has any one had this problem, or does any one have any ideas as to why this is happening?

Hmmm... I've never had that happen or even heard of that for that matter. I would have it checked out. Does it do it at normal cruising RPM's?

Check the rear wheel speed sensors, they need to be removed when taking the rear-end apart or the cogged hub will damage them when the axles are pushed in to remove the C-clips.

If they were not reinstalled properly, or damaged, it could be the cause of your problem.

it doesnt do it at normal RPM's. and i also noticed that when the traction light comes on it feels like the car looses some power. if i give it some gas it will accelerate but it feels like there is less power going to it for some reason. I guess im going to have to go get it checked out after i try to take a look at the sensors. Im not sure what else im gunna be able to do. I was hoping that there would be some sort of quick fix hah

I hate the traction control I have it so it is off forever w/ a turner. When don't you just push the traction button to turn it off and see if that works for you.

I second this. Every time I get in the car, it gets turned off because I can't stand it.

I can't stand it either but on the odd chance I am driving in the rain, which I hate, I love the traction control. It only has to to save you once, you know.

I don't blame the OP for wanting the problem fixed, though. I think cliffyk might be onto something, so check on that and let us know what happens.

Does the traction control honestly help in the rain? From what I can tell, it does nothing but engage the brakes.
