Default Mods...what to do?

I've decided im gonna stay naturally aspirated and have some cash laying around. Here's my options. also remember this car is a DD and my only car.

1. Mac longtubes Stage 8 header bolts and header gaskets ( thanks HOSS) with VRS x pipe

2. Hitech Stage 2 cams with manely Nextek Springs and what ever else i would need??

3. Finish my bolt ons with the Tri ax TB & plenum and Steeda UDP"s

I wouldnt be able to install 1 & 2 for a good month or so since im 17 and funds wont rise untill we finish harvesting tobacco.

oh and pics from mustang week.

How in depth are you gonna go on your motor? If your not going to do an intake/heads ever I would strongly recommend going with a stage 1 cam.

If you have the time and will to learn, I suggest buying a block and building exactly what you want on the side then drop it in later.

You can easily do a streetable head/c/i car. Before you buy your cams I would save up for some heads. wether it be trickflow/patriot or w.e, if you plan to get heads in the future get a cam that matches up well.

I have a 5.0 block in storage that I am slowly compiling parts for. Its going to be just a little ol 347 h/c/i. I am either going to drop this into my vert or find a fox body coupe to put it in.

Dont waste your time man. Pushrod motor swap is a huge mess. Its been done, but spend your time and $$ elsewhere

Depends on where you live. ie I believe in TN it's perfectly legal, but in AZ, depends on which city you live in.

If I lived 50 miles north of where I do, I would be emissions exempt and could do whatever the hell I wanted

That depends on a couple things

1. How far your going. IE what you're keeping, AC, Radio, what not, and what your getting rid of, staying carbed, or going EFI.

2. Whether or not you have another car, and enough money.

Me and a couple buddies did the swap on my friend's 85' Rx7 with a 302, and it wasn't too tough. I've pulled my engine more times than I care to admit (quite a while ago), and it wasn't all that difficult.

that isn't so much the problem, it's the CARB vs EFI debate.

EFI is far more reliable than a carb, you don't have to readjust everytime the weather changes, and changes in altitude don't make near the same difference

However, it's also a good 4k if you want to go completely standalone (which I would, if you don't want to deal with PATS (passive anti-theft system)). It goes up from there.

If you took the driveline out of a older mustang, or F150, you could use the EFI system from that car, but you would essentially need a donor car to transfer everything over from it.

Carb's are cheaper, but they sure as hell aren't as reliable.

Just stick with the engine you have now.

Build up a nice stroker or something, with a decent set of TrickFlow Heads, and a nice Stage II cam, and you could easily see 350hp on a streetable combo that would be a sh*t-ton of a fun
