Default Possible engine swaps.

Noob talking so bear with me lol

My cars getting up there in miles, just hit 140k today and it is my daily driver and i'll be making about a 40 mile round trip just to school, that's not work and what ever else.

So i was thinking of having a motor that i could work on and drop in when this one does eventually blow when ever that may be. Planing on driving it till it dies on me

SO what are my options really? obviously theres the replacement 2v engine that I can probably pic up cheaply enough, but i am looking to make a 400hp+ car.

The next option would possibly be a Mach 1 engine, this is where i don't know if it would be a direct swap or if theres going to be a lot of other nit picky little things I'm going to have to worry about, tranny, etc.??? And this would give me the 4v engine and be alot easier to reach 400hp

And of course the cobra swap, which would be amazing, and would be at my goal of 400hp easily but would also have to get a new tranny, since its a 6spd right? and whole bunch of other things that would put me over my budget

I'm on about a 3k or so budget, and i've found a mach 1 engine for 2k with a little under 50k on the clock, so would this be a direct swap?

what about doing a 351 or something along those lines, something a little different?

Any other options?

And don't scream out Mach1 swap or anything, cause like i said, i have no idea what that would entail.

thanks for the help

I was planning on sticking with the mod motors, just thought it might be cool to do something different, but being practical

sooo does anyone know if the mach would mount up to my tranny? I did google by the way nada and what my car would need to support the bigger engine?

honestly if your looking for that power and want to do an engine swap i would look into the 5.4l and keep it a 2v. Some nice trickflow heads and a nice cam on that.

meh.

if you can find a good deal a BBF would be cheaper to build than an all out all motor 4v.

Let me give u some specs here.

the 03/04 mach heads (same as cobra) will run u over a grand.

the intake $400 or so. ~ this is not the best all motor intake alot of people run the Fr-500 for an all out N/a monster, or the Cobra R which is just riducously priced.

while the mach has good n/a cams for being stock, there is alot better aftermarket.

cams for a 4v. $~1200

valve springs $380

port job Stg 1 head $450? stg 2 $800 stage 3 $1100 (estimates but close)

if you found a mach motor for a good price it could be worth it, you could have a 350hp car for $4k ish but thats assuming you found a motor for $2000 or so.

when you get into porting and everything you're looking at $6k to make 380whp.
