Default What Is It Going To Take To Get To Low 11's?

im looking at a couple different options for a new motor to get my car to be a solid low 11 high 10second car. Right now my best is a 12.03@116 with a 1.79 60' bogging after the launch. I have a vortech with 10lbs right now making 410hp/393tq. What different options do i have to get to the times i want? Im thinking of either a 5.0 or 4.6 D.S.S shortblock with stock everything else and running 12lbs or so. What kinda power could i get from a 4.6shortblock and stage 2 heads and cams with 12lbs of boost?

sxynerd makes like 590 on 15? or 16 lbs of boost... so i'd say like 540? You could always upgrade your blower.

OR... you could go the other route. First of all you should invest in suspension, nomatter what you do, suspension is never a bad idea. The second thing is weight reduction, i'm not sure how much u like your backseats lol, Tubular K-member, maybe even some weld wheels (not sure what you're running now). Smaller diameter wheels (esp with skinnies) up front, would help alot , not only is it less weight, its less rotational mass. What else... Battery relocation to the trunk is a good one, the dogbone removal if you haven't already.... someone else chime in, im sure i missed something.

Are your running slicks and skinnies? Have you done suspension mods? What mods do you currently have?

Haha you should have told us that you basically have nothing stock and that you didn't like your backseat.

Skinnies up front, more boost and a built motor.

haha...yeah, that would of been easier. I just copied and pasted what i had in the members rides section so it wasn't that bad. I know that skinnies and more boost and built motor will get me to my goal. Im trying to find out what motor combo i should go with. I don't know squat about built motors.

No go on the stroker. More stress on the rods when you start to spin them faster. So id just go either 4.6 or big bore. Then id go ahead and have your pistons notched so you can run more aggressive cams if you would so desire. A headunit upgrade to a T trim wouldnt be a bad idea. And you dont have longtubes yet...you could probably gain a lot from the upgrade to longtubes. Heck, longtubes would probably get you into the 11's easily. Im sure youd pick up more than .03 seconds from them. Just some things to think about.

He wants low elevens, which he's a good bit away from.

With a 116 trap, he should be around where he's at on street tires, around 11.7's on slicks or DR's.

I would think it would take at least another 140-160 more BHP to get to low elevens at 128+mph.

That's just an estimate though.

I do know that you can run mid - low tens with my car, so I'll sell it to you for 12.5k
