Default Yet Another Question...

Man it seems like on here every other day with a question about something...A mechanic told me that my car probably has a tune from a previous owner..he says I have to get the computer reset and it cost about $250..does that sound right?? Does anyone have any suggestions for me??

why do you need it reset? just because? is it having any problems? if it aint broke, i say don't fix it...

is your car running bad or you just wanna know? if you where at a dealer thats sound about right they will charge you anywhere from 90 to 100 bucks just to run a test with the diagnostic machine which only takes what 30 sec

What evidence of "probably" has he put forth? I would get a second opinion--if you bought it from a licensed dealer, and it does not have a stock tune, and you can prove that, then the dealer should fix it--or call the EPA and file a complaint...

I gather it's a slushbox then. Could be a tune or an auto transmission "kit" (valve body, seals, etc.)...

might be a tune. i have a canned tune for my 03 GT, and it slams into each gear. i never got the tune revised to allow softer tunes, so it's pretty harsh if you aren't paying attention

yeah I think I have the same problem as you..the guy said that the computer just needs to be reset...
