dyno #s low
 

i know im an auto but i think i should put down more than 236 with full bolt ons. it was dyno day at big wood racing, and an 04 auto without long tubes, gears, or underdrive pulleys put down 242. i know my front 02's are bad (got em on my toolbox at work, awaiting extension harness) but i thought at wot they didnt matter. anyone got any suggestions.

Ya those number do seem low. Is that the corrected numbers?

what was the temp like when u got dynoed?

that doesn't seem too far off.

Gears do nothing on the dyno.

With that said i wouldn't worry too much about dyno numbers, go run your car and let us see those numbers.

8.70 wit a 1.99 60ft. but im thinking i shud have another 20 horses and maybe get close to 8.50.

not bad, those are the numbers to worry about, whocares if that other car put down more than you, if you can beat him on the track who cares what a dyno says.

What octane fuel are you running, what is your AFR at WOT? If you don't have a wide band O2 sensor, you need one to do any serious tuning--the OEM tune tends to be rich at WOT because there are no knock sensors and Ford wanted to make sure the engines didn't blow up.

Also, the canned tunes from any tuner are quite conservative with timing advance, and I've never seen one that addressed the tendancy toward rich at WOT mentioned above--with good reason, the fellows that sell tuners son't want your engine to blow up either.

i've got a granitelli tune, but it was way rich like more than a 12.0. i also advanced the timing and extra 4 degrees over the 93 octane tune that was preset.

im just thinking that with the new o2's working properly i shud be at 255 with maybe a better et.

correct me if im wrong but your 02 sensors have no input on the motor. all it will do is pop a CEL letting you know your emissions system isnt working.

full boltons with lt's is usually around 260rwhp. HOWEVER, the horsepower numbers dont mean crap because they can be altered with by the tuner. they could have just not corrected for certain elevations and stuff like that. your AF ratio bieng off is what your concern should be, could be your car is running so rich your losing power. have you gotten your car dyno tuned? or just using a canned tune off the internet? if you havent gotten a dyno tune thats probably your problem, not your 02 sensors.

canned tune but its the upstream sensors that are bad. keeps setting a code, surges bad, and runs rough at idle. had same problem couple of weeks ago, and moved rear o2's to front since they are cut off anyway. ran better for a little while but now im gonna properly fix it.
and yes the upstream o2's control air fuel ratio, just not sure if it makes a big difference at wot. im a drivability tech but new to high performance.
