If its locked you cant make a new tune, that simple. You will still beable to read codes though. I think to unlock it most companies charge like 150-250; unsure on real world figure.

And if I can't make a new tune I can't use it on my car or I have to use that specific tune?

If it is locked you will not be able to load a tune on any car other than the one to which it is married, also be aware that some handhelds only allow a limited number of "marriages" and "divorces" (4 or 5) and will then become paperweights/code scanners.

As Hoss said, I have heard $150 to $250 to get them reset by the manufacturer, however I have no direct knowledge of same...

Thanks guys, I saw a tuner on CL and the owner didn't know if it was locked. sounds like the risk isn't worth it.

I.E of choosing a good thread title:

"What is this part called?"
"Where can I find these wheels?"
"Which gears should I buy?"

I.E of poor thread title:

"Help me!!"
"URGENT! HELP ME NOW!!"
"Question..."

Thank you, Dan04COBRA
thanks

On the same topic, is it limited to how many cars u can run codes on? Does that effect your 4 or 5 lock/unlocks?
