Default Pipe diameter??

So i don't have enough money to buy a full catback...so im looking at mufflers i like. What diameter should i buy the mufflers...2.25 or 2.5 inches? Id be getting some new pipe as well and just weld them together (local muffler shop can cut me a deal).

What do i need??

Thanks guys.

Are you asking what size diameter for the inlet/outlet from the muffler, or the actual muffler diameter itself? You do know that most straight through mufflers have a 3.5" to 4.5" diameter right?

Yes inlet/outlet...sorry i didn't make that clear. Im just asking cuz i was looking at some magnapack mufflers http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...ywordSearchCmd and they had 2.25in and 2.5in inlet/outlet.

But im guessing the SSS mufflers are 2.5 right?

Yes, the SSS are 2.5". If you're looking to weld those mufflers into your Flowmaster cat back, then that's the diameter you want from what i've been told.

I don't think John has ever put the Terminators on his site yet. There's one pic of the Terminator axle back on the home page, but under the muffler section, they all look to be the Adrenalines.

The Terminators are 3.5", and the Adrenalines are 4.5".

It doesn't matter though. You can get both mufflers, and cat backs seperately, and it's all interchangeable.

They came on the car so im not sure...id have to check. Its just some of the pipes are kinda getting rusted in spots and you can see it in the wheel wells. It just bugs me. So im thinkin im just gonna get all new pipes.

If youre gonna do that, just buy the catback that way everything is mandrel bent tubing...and its polished if i remember correctly. But if you insist on doing it this way, get the 2.5" stainless steel piping, that way you dont have to put up with rust. But adrenaline catback FTW!!!
