An Unbiased Review of The Typhoon Intake Manifold for the 2v
Well, here's the story. My intake manifold cracked above the thermostat housing (yes I have the aluminum crossover) so I was in the market for an intake manifold but I'm either planning to buy a blower in the next 4-5 months or simply cam/spray my car so a metal manifold would help in the higher rpms if cammed and a back up if sprayed so it wouldnt break into a million pieces if I had an nitrous backfire. I was going to buy a hardball'r by HPS BUT they were not going to have them for order till the middle-end of january and my car has been down for a month and I dont have anything else really to drive (dad's truck). I then looked at the Trickflow, but after reading the instructions, I wanted a more stock looking manifold without switching my alternator aroundm changing the position of the vacuum lines, etc. I settled on the typhoon and yes I read all the posts and threads where people bad talked it. However, I was going to port mine and sand down any casting problems. I realize it is not yielding em anything right now, but with all my other mods (longtubes, CAI, Plenum, TB, Mid Pipe, Mufflers, 4.10 gear) I figured it could not hurt it that badly. I ordered the manifold, gaskets, and had it 2 dayed to my house for $550 from AmericanMuscle which I thought was a damn good price. I will be getting the manifold monday or tuesday because of the weekend and I will post a review on the install, product, and performance of the product when we are done with the install. I will also try to post some pictures of the manifold and maybe even a quick write up on the install. Thanks.
Shoulda done the edelbrock...same price and actually will see more gains that the typhoon. But glad to hear youre going to review it. Friend has it and it doesnt perform well on his nitrous car. Lost power.
haha sorry guys! I will provide a good review. I am going to do some port work on it and get the manifold, the fuel rails, alternator bracket (possibly) and throttle body all powder coated for around 100 dollars. the Edlebrock would have outperformed it but I needed something now since the car has been sitting in my garage for more than a month now. i will take pics of all the parts before and after powdercoating as well so you can get an idea of how everything will look if anyone decides to get some powdercoating done.
