Default Winter wheels...

Now most of you guys are probably going to give me crap about this...but i want to buy a set of wheels for the purpose of having all-season tires put on them. I already have the tires picked out for the front and rear, but im having trouble picking the wheels that i want to put them on. Im not going to buy the wheels til the end of summer since that will probably be one of my major purchases of the year, but im just going to ask about it right now while im thinking about it so i can plan my spending from now til fall.

Im looking at the DD 10th anniversary cobra wheels from OE Wheels llc, the 2010 GT500 replicas in 18x9/10, or maybe someone else has another suggestion for winter wheels. I do not like the stock wheels at all. You know how when you have wheels on your car that you just dont like and it just makes you not love your car anymore? I dont want that to happen again.

So im buying wheels that i like, not as much as the AFS ones i have on here now, but ones that i like that will make me happy with my car over the winter and if i use them over the summer and use the 18" cobras for more racing or for car shows. Lemme know what you guys think.

hey man. i voted for the gt500's because i know you like them. plus not many people have them on their cars yet! although for what your going for, i wouldnt put all seasons on them - as they wont do great in the cold/snow - just average. if they are 'winter' wheels, get a snow/winter tire on them.

the 17" wheels will help cost wise too, as 17" tires tend to be a good chunk cheaper, so you may want to factor that in your decision as well. (ive been looking into this alot with my recent wheel purchase, haha).

good luck!

oh, and put them on right now!!!! hahah.

how about stock wheels since your just running them in the winter? why **** away money on rims that will get messed up unless your gunna be outside when its 5 degrees out taking caring of them. and if your gunna do that why do u need winter wheels to begin w? lol

Well as in the double thread that somehow appeared, these are going to be the DD wheels that i put all season tires on and im going to put Toyo R888's on all four of the AFS 18" 03 Cobra replicas and save those for shows and racing and just throw these wheels on for the daily commutes and stuff. So with that said, does that change anyone's opinions???

Here is my post on the duplicate thread that somehow appeared without the poll...

Here are some pictures of the wheels im looking at. Just thought about the BBS RK wheels just because i think they look cool and might be a possibility too. Fronts are going to be 275's and the rears are going to be 285, doesnt matter if they are the 18's or the 17's. And i pulled the pics off of SVTP and the member here that i pulled pics from 98BlueGT. Lemme know what you guys think.

Im kinda digging the 2010 GT500 replicas on the new edge...just needs lowered to really set it off and some taller tires cus those look puny.

Buying new wheels that are going to be driven in the snow = stupid idea

Run your Cobras when the weather in nice and buy stockers for the winter.

I have stockers. But i hate the stockers and these are going to be run all year round. I dont feel like buying new R888's every year cus i tend to drive a ton over the summer and spring. I drove over 12k miles in the past year and its only going to get worse seeing that i was in high school last year and had somewhere to be for 7 hours out of the day and didnt work much. Now this year i go to college 60 miles away from home and go home almost every weekend and do a lot of running around with the guys while im here. So with the tires that will be on these wheels, not gonna run them all the time.

Essentially, im buying a set of DD wheels with a/s tires on them and i have track/show purpose wheels with better rubber on them. Kinda like everyone else has their street wheels and then their 15" slicks and skinnies for the track, i'll just have my street wheels and my 18" track wheels with R compound rubber on them.
