Default 01 misfire/sputtering

i have an 01 GT with 94,000 on it and owned for over a year now. Just about a week ago id be driving around town or on the highway when it would start missing out (or it seems that way) when id give it gas over part throttle, primarily in the higher gears. Any other time, idle or just regular driving, it runs fine. Seems to get worse the warmer the engine gets. No CEL, plugs and fuel filter replaced about 10,000 ago and intake gaskets just replaced in january. It does have a BBK cold air kit and a 75mm throttle body but i checked all connections and cleaned the air filter and tb. Need some assistance please.

Most likely a bad coil, although those are usually accompanied by a CEL. Bad TPS or maybe poor MAF seal, but again would likely have a CEL. Bad gas?? If so, you might have to replace that fuel filter again and it may take a couple fresh tanks (from somewhere else than where the poison came from) to flush it out. Without a CEL, that's where I'd start. Double check your spark plugs, too, and make sure one's not fouled or damaged. That happened to me on my '91 Escort I had when I was a kid; a Bosch Platinum plug broke inside my engine without any damage but a misfire under load.

Also check the rubber boots on the COPs for signs of hardness and/or arcing--or just replace them any way. They're $3 to $4 each ($3.50 here), sometimes even less at your FLAPS...

thanks for the advice guys, but as it turns out my battery had a bad cell and finally went out just yesterday. Finally replaced it with an optima and no problems anymore. Think im going to save for some MSD coils though.

Don't waste your money on after market COPs, they will not provide any performance improvement over the stock units, and will likely not last as long.

At least read this "sticky" first...
