Default Base idle settings

I have a 2001 GT automatic, the idle is currently set at 450 in drive and 650 in neutral, seems a little low to me, I'm going to bump it up with my tuner, but I am wondering if anyone knows what the factory idle settings were.

You should be safe with 800 at idle and 1,000 in neutral. Not sure what the factory settings are, but yes it's low at what it's at.

Here's the factory settings:

idle_speed_drive
idle_speed_neutral

Keep in mind that's for a 5-speed car... but the settings should be the same for an automatic car.

Check your IAC, the idle speed should not change that much between neutral and drive...

I orderd a new IAC a few days ago, from some reason my idle settings were set very low.

The settings were changed in the tune? It should be 560 in drive and 736 in neutral, if the PCM was not maintaining these settings then it is most likely the IAC is sticking or stuck--have you received and installed the new IAC yet?

When you do, disconnect the battery while you are installing it (5 to 7 minutes). this will clear the KAM (Keep Alive Memory) and force the PCM to re-learn the idle air trim values.

I have a custom tune and when I checked the parameters with my hand held, the drive idle was set at 500 and the neutral idle was set at 700. I bumped them up to 560 and 730. the shop that did my tune suggested I replace the IAC based on a few issues I am having. 1. Irratic idle, 2. surging at 25mph 3. hot start problems, if the IAC doesn't correct the problems I will bring it back in and have him re-tune it. I have deleted the KAM with my tuner but that didn't change anything. The car runs perfect when its cold, when it warms up the problems start.

Thanks shadowdrake !!! I've been asking around different sites/forums for the base idle setting for months and nobody knew it.
I guess my car is idling fine then. In drive it idles around 550 and in neutral/park 700-730. I always thought this was kinda low....?? Thought about adjusting it. Guess i was wrong. Thanks again. Now i can sleep at night.
