they are worth it if you have a good amount of mods...for a stock car like yours, it won't be a huge gain.

im doing the same thing. i have a 4 bank SCT chip im going to have my car dyno tuned with. i only have CAI, midpipe/catback, 75mm TB and plenum. im going to have a performance tune/economy tune/valet tune and stock tune on the chip.

the handhelds are good for pulling codes and is always handy, but any tune you get from AM or any place for that matter via email or premade tunes will neer be as good as a true dyno tune. in your situation i would suggest a dyno tune with either a handheld or chip. depends on your wallet. I have my brothers old locked Xcal 2 and a chip so im just going with the chip for "on the fly" tune switching ability.

i have a Diablosport handheld tuner im thinking to get rid of if you are interested to go the handheld route.

A tune or tuner will always bring noticable gains, even with no mods, as the OEM tune is very conservative with less spark advance than safely possible, and a bit rich at WOT. This is especially true when you load a premium fuel tune.

I have loaded 87, 91, and 93 octane tunes on a half-doxen or more dead stock and slightly modded GTs--not once has the owner not come back from their test drive grinning.

Plus it will allow you to adjust the speedo for your gears...if you haven't already done that.

This, I'm not sure why people say you need a certain number of mods to get a tune. Why not optimize your vehicle? One of the best mods in my opinion.

Thank you! More often than not I get flamed for saying that...

It's funny because in the "old days" the cheapest mods to get a bit more power were to bump the timing, and bolt on a bigger carburetor. Now people want to bolt on a bunch of crap and not do nothing to actually make more power until some mystical "bolt-on plateau" has been reached.

thats the reason im getting mine tuned. people outside the forum alway ask why im doing it...i get bored of explaining so i just say "cuz i want to"

i spent the money on a chip, TB and plenum and midpipe, might as well get the most out of them.
