Default dumb question

Is a factory 99-01 cobra forged? or just the 03-04? im curious because im thinking maybe it would be better to buy a used cobra rotating assembly then put my stock gt stuff back in? bad idea?

99-01 are not forged. I couldn't tell you what material the rods/crank/pistons are, though.

Your motor in pieces, eh? Have you considered just ordering forged parts?

No they don't, I have looked into buying a complete powertrain used and most places want $4-5k for the engine/trans/blower. So, I would have to think the internals won't be cheap either. I know MMR sells rotating assy, that may be your best, though def not cheapest, shot.

basically im trying to avoid that. My crank is busted, so minimum i think i can ebay one for like 150ish....but i figured if i could find a cobra rotating assem. for like 500-600 that may not be a bad way to go, altho are the pistons dished like the factory 2v? or would i have clearence problems?

stock gt cranks are good to like 800 I thought... I wouldnt worry about that being forged. I would just get some forged rods n pistons

like that? know of any forged pistons that dont go for 600 lol...i dont expect those rods to hold 650 but they might hold more than stock....what are the stock pistons good for? about 450 too?

yea, i think the crank is forged in the 99+ but in the 03/04 they have all forged internals as well.
