Default Power curve: Centri vs. Roots?

Right now, I am saving to buy a Supercharger for my 02 GT and I know that the Kenne Bells are more fun to drive in the city because of their instant boost. But they are so much more expensive, than a procharger or a vortech. Is the power curve in the Centri ones really that much different than a KB or other similar to that? I drive it as my daily driver, and in the summer I will be taking it to the drag strip fairly often, and I definantly want to feel the extra power around the 2000-3500 RPM range.

The car is a 5spd too.

Centris dont make full boost til redline...power is more of a curve than an line like the twin screw.

umm, that's completely untrue, but thank you. My car makes full boost at 5400RPM......Redline is 7100.....sounds like a bit of a discrepancy?

I will rephrase that. Your car will see full boost before redline, but your motor has to be spinning fast enough to make full boost.

So does that mean that before 2800RPM the car will feel like it did before the S/C was even put on?

Not sure about centris but with a KB, as long as you don't mash the pedal, the car will feel the same. I go about 30 miles a day and only hit boost if I'm fooling around.

If youre trying to hit boost much before that, thats not advisable honestly. Boost hitting at 3000rpm is a pretty good thing to have that way you dont have to worry about hitting boost during normal driving. Im more of a fan of the twin screw blowers as i just got a ride in a whipple cobra, but i always liked the twin screw more than the centri.

No. When you have a naturally aspirated engine, the manifold pressure will always be in vaccuum. You will never see 0 pressure, IE, there will always be slight vacuum, however, with any type of blower, or turbo, even if you're not "making" boost, you're still at 0 vacuum.

In a NA car, it would take you until about 4000+RPM to see close to 0 vacuum, even when your not in boost, with a centri car, you're still MAKING power.

You should still see vacuum with a boosted car until you are actually WOT, correct? Thats what i thought was the case anyways. Probably wrong about that too though.
