Default Test pipes?

Hey guys - I was wondering if anyone knows where/if I can get test pipes for my 2002 GT? Worst come to worse, I would just clean the cats out, but if there comes a time when I need them again (i.e. emissions), I don't want to have to buy new ones. I'm trying to avoid just buying a whole new mid-pipe.

Thanks,
Mike

Just buy a new midpipe and keep your old one incase you can't get it inspected.

You'll free up a few horses and sound way better.

So there isn't just a test pipe I can put in, it has to be the whole midpipe?

Have you been a ricer in a previous life?

NO mustang owners use that term, because it isn't possible without welding, which would more than likely make your fabbed up "test pipes" more expensive than buying a perfectly made midpipe that can easily be replaced by your factory midpipe for inspections.

Please know your car before asking future questions.

Your car (factory) has an "H" pipe, with 4 catytic converters on it.

haha, no, I was not a ricer, but sadly all my friends are. Just got the Mustang a couple weeks ago also. Thanks for the info!

Cheers

buy an slp catted x because it in fact does have "test pipes" to go in them. You can take the cats off and put in straight pipes to make it an o/r x pipe and when you need cats, you just put them back in.

More chances of leaks using exhaust clamps...

Get a fully welded offroad midpipe, then just swap them out if need be for inspections. Takes 20-30 minutes.

Then get mufflers/intake with the money you'd save over getting the SLP.

That's what I would do if I was stock again.

If i had to do it over again, i'd be doing longtubes and a catted x and then buying an o/r x to swap in whenever i want to because longtube midpipe changes are super quick.

I really only want headers so I can say I have them. Not looking forward to shellin' out 6-9 bills for good headers then the matching midpipe. They're last on my list of mods. Im going to finish my suspension after I get my driveshaft and tb/plenum.
