Does the sound get any louder when you accelerate?

and to be honest PTV sounds more like a clink, not a knock like this. 94er's noise sounds nothing close to what yours sounds like.

I really really really hate to say this, but I'm calling it a spun rod bearing.

Might be carbon knock as well. thats somewhat what my car sounded like when i had a big chunk of carbon fall off one of the valves and clanged around inside the cylinder for a while. But yea, get it checked out ASAP.

No it doesn't get louder when i accelerate...its a constant noise.

Im gonna put some heavier weighted oil in it tomorrow and see how that helps things. They guy thats installing my gears is also a ford mechanic so imma have him check and see if he knows wtf the noise is.

And wannabegearhead: I wasn't around when i got my cams put in...it was done as a surprise. It didn't do it right when i got it...kinda after i blew up my intake up.

It was tuned!!! But what i'd say happened with yours 949er is that they pulled timing til the knock stopped...same as retarding the cams when installing/degreeing the cams...right??? Or am i way off???

I dunno, its possible. I dont know much about the technical end of it, all I know is that my "ticking" was fixed with a simple dyno tune. Now, if they are different ticks, I could be completely wrong (especially since you said you got a tune)

edit:

where did he say his car was tuned?

When you change the oil tomorrow, look for metal shavings and run a long magnet inside the oil drain hole and see if anything sticks to it.

Have you redlined the car sense you put the cams in?
