Im taking my car to a mechanic to put my LT's on but he charges 70$ a hr! how long will it take for a certified mechanic to put these on (he has a lift)

Depends on how good he is??? He will have to lower the K-member, which means supporting the engine from above. 2-8 hrs maybe more.

hes good he did my gears pretty dang fast i just dont want to go in there owing him 5+ hrs of pay. some friends said they did it in 4 hrs on a lift thats broken now but im thinking if they did it in 4 then the mechanic can do it in lik 3 or less hrs

$70/hr is nothing to bitch about. Decent shops out here average about $85/hr these days, and I know of a specialty shop that charges around $125/hr (and has plenty of work). My guess on labor is be prepared for about 5-6 hrs. if they know what they're doing, and hope it only takes 4 hrs.

the shop that i got my car tuned charges $400, which imo is completely worth it if you dont have a lift

You said LT's but somebody chime in don't you also need a different midpipe for LT's than stock or shorty's?

He'll need a shorty pipe to fit the long tubes.

couldnt you have an exhuast shop shorten your stock midpipe? i mean what would it take a cut and a weld to re weld the flanges?
