KB's produce alot of low end torque. A centri like a vortech or procharger is going to produce a more linear powerband and have more up top. Alot of people will say that a KB is a fun wild street car, a centri is more of a track car. Either is going to give you more power, it's the way they make power. As for reliability, I haven't really heard any horror stories from any supercharger manufacturer. As for power, people will tell you anything from 400 to 450hp at the wheels, personally I don't think there's such a thing as completely safe on a stock block with a blower. Chances are running at 380-390hp your bottom end will hold forever, but there's always a chance it won't.

With a blower you're going to shoot for around 370hp. If the car's completely stock, I would do longtubes, midpipe, and a catback for exhaust. Do probably a set of 3.73 gears and get a 31 spline setup. Get a TB/plenum, and throw a decent set of stage 2 cams in. Get a set of good drag radials and some suspension that can handle the power. A buddy of mine is running 12.0's on this setup. Add on some nitrous and it's a low to mid 11 sec car. Now this is going to cost probably the same amount as a blower, but with the exception of the cams, these are all things I would consider a necessity to do before a blower anyway. Good flowing intake and exhaust, as well as suspension and tires that can handle the power is a necessity no matter what you do.

you would have to do a head swap to put on a 2.1 kenne bell, i dont think they make one for your car any longer. i could be wrong but i think they stopped makeing that one. there is a guy i see at car shows in my area that has one on his 98,it sits off to the drivers side, not in the center like the 2.1 on my car. thats the only one i have seen.while i was writeing this i went to kenne bells website, if you click on the 94-98 2.1 it takes you to the supercharger for the 99-04 2.1 so you would be looking at some serious cash to make the kenne bell thing happen but there are other cool options out there. i just like the way that style of supercharger looks but they are all going to make some good power. you can have a safe tune that will keep the HP down to a manageble level and if after a period of time you want a little more you can have it retuned and step it up a little. any way you choose to go is gonna cost ya, i spent a bunch of money on mine and need to spend more to get where it needs to be.
