dragger questions
Ok so besides breaking somthing last night having to do with the clutch. I wasnt running very well. I ran a best of 14.1........Now i do have a few things that i know are completly screwing up my times. First im running my heavy tires again. Best i ran with old motor and factory gears was 13.8ish So i wasnt expecting to run 12s or anything with them on. The other thing is i have 3.90s now and never got to learn how to drive on them, so thats a work in progress, my 60s were 2.1-2.3 most of them 2.2 or worse. But the last thing was i noticed that my 1/8 mile was off by quite a bit. My MPH was down to 78 when i used to consistenly run 79 to 80 plus. at 9.0ish but yet my trap up top didnt seem to bad, around 100-101xx which for those tires isnt bad. So im wondering why are my times so swaped? Up grades are new motor, new clutch, light flywheel, windage tray, gasket matched heads. I know the light flywheel may have some effect, but losing that much time in the 1/8 and still running 14.2ish at 100 plus. Im seeing if i had traction and my 1/8 was more normal i might acctualy do quite a bit better than 13.8.....im just bummed any ideas?

i know a lighter flywheel wont hold the rpms as well when you launch. what i mean by this is that its like trying to stop a big tire vs a small one. a heavier flywheel would be harder to pull down in rpms during the first second of the launch. but the lighter flywheel would help the accelleration of rpms.

already knew that, fix that problem by raising your launch rpm. I had no problem with bogging, still frying the tires trying to grab for traction with the 3.90s. only bogged it 2 times outta the hole. It is trickier than the heavier one alot smaller of a window to get it right. Im just thinking that maybe im getting less traction than im thinking. But with the new gearing from the t-56 and the 3.90s it goes like stink. even the 3-4 shift the thing squats and goes. Problem is the times arent showing it.

after readig your first post again, it just sounds like a traction problem mixed in with not being with your new gears very long. plus you may just had a bad night. fix the clutch and go back and practice. figure out that new tranny and gears. driver mod is key to any kind of racing

well did you properly break in your clutch before you hammered on it like that? and it could be due to the gearing of the tranny. You might have to readjust where you shift at and such. I mean first is longer and second is shorter so you might end up shifting into third before the 1/8 and that might be worth .1 or something. This is just some of the things i thinking might be it. might not be though. idk.
