Hanging Idle Fix?
Does anyone have a link to the hanging idle fix?, something to do with cutting a gasket down on the throttle body or something like that?
My car just started doing it and it aggravates the crap out of me!
Thanks!

Do me a favor and go out and get your car up to operating temps and....
JUST FLOOR IT!!! Run it through the gears to clean out the IAC. Works for me everytime. If not, just take the IAC off and spray it with carb cleaner to clean it out and it should be fine.

^agreed. clean the iac the next few times you fill up on gas. theres a fix where you drill a hole in the iac or somethin, but its very risky. many people have f-ed up the procedure and its not very reliable. its better to just clean it out. and DO NOT clean the throttle body unless you have an aftermarket. the stocker has a special coating which, if tampered with, will ruin your idle
If it "just started doing it" then the IAC is sluggish, sticking, or just plain bad. To test it just unplug the electrical connector with the engine idling--the RPMs should drop and it may even stall. If it doesn't then the IAC is bad.
Some have reported success cleaning it with TB cleaner, however Ford says it cannot be cleaned and needs to be replaced. Many of those that have cleaned it have further reported that it was a temporary fix.
I got bored one afternoon back in April and cut one in half--click here to see that thread...

my method has worked for me for over 2 years. but the method of getting the car to drop to idle quicker is you make a new IAC gasket out of gasket material from NAPA and then you make the center hole smaller than factory and it will function as a restrictor and it will drop to idle quicker and the rpms wont hang...but you have to get the hole sized just right in order to keep the car running but not hang.
You can also drill a hole in a 1/2" copper pipe cap and insert it into the IAC feed tube--easier to play with the hole size than the gasket method.
I made a restrictor of 3/4" round aluminum, 0.700" OD x 1/2" long x 0.290" ID. Bores of 0.280" (9/32") to 0.313" (5/16") seem to work best.

There are also a number of "dashpot" settings in the tune that can be modified to reduce the hanging--however, again, if it just started doing it then something is wrong with the IAC...
