Default suspension setup

I have decided to do a lot of suspension mods and wheels/tires/brakes for the first things that im going to dig into on my gt. I have read the (Official Suspension) but I can't decide on what brands on everything I want to go with. My main goal for this car is to have something fun to drive on the weekends and have fun on some twisty roads and maybe some autocross tracks here and there. I would like more performance then looks. it is a 96 gt coupe also.

I thought about the
Steeda competition springs
Tokico d-spec shocks and struts
Steeda full length subframe connectors.
Steeda heavy duty front and rear sway bars

or
Eibach pro springs
Eibach pro-damper shocks and struts
steeda subframe connectors
Eibach sway bar kit.

I would like to stay under $1800 or so for everything and Would it be worth it to do upper and lower control arms for the twistys.

Anyone with a better opinion on anything I have listed please chyme in.

Do not do sways until the VERY last thing, as you may not need them at all. You are likely to need a heavier rear, but not necessarily.

Your goals are loftier than your means, unfortunatley, so there are a few things you should do to start and as funds grow, you can continue further.

#1 - FLSFC's
#2 - LCA's with at least one spherical end
#3 - decision time.....

I would NOT recommend you go out and install UCA's, as they really suck if you want your car to have any serious cornering capability. Do the two things up front and consider what your ULTIMATE goals are in terms of how bad you want to rip corners. If your sights are high, don't waste your money on shocks/struts/springs..... just start doing research on CO's.

Do a search back a couple weeks or so with "suspension" in the title. You will find a very similar thread with lots of good input.

I highly suggest that you get the H&R super spot springs with the KYB AGX adjustable shocks and struts. I have this setup on my 04 mach 1. The two together off a very agressive stance and a smooth ride on the streets. But turn up the stiffness and they handle like you wouldnt believe. I also have a huge sway bar from steeda. if you really want to take corners i recomend the steeda tubular sways. All of these would run you just over 1000. You should be able to find the H&R Springs and sways at american muscle. And after alot of searching i was able to find the KYB shocks and struts in a package for less money at latemodelrestoration.com

Did you have to use caster camber plates with this setup?

CC plates should be considered no matter what your setup is... way more versatile when it comes to adjustability for the "perfect" caster/camber setting.

I have brand new d-specs, steeda full length subframes (with torque-box weld ins), and a steeda tubular front sway bar for you. Again, they're brand new, and I'd be happy to sell them to you for 10-15% off brand new price =) I picked them because I thought they would be the best (without breaking the bank) for my GT!

Another thing with CC plates is they are super easy to install, esp if you are doing the shocks and springs at the same time like I did.

.... again, what are the ULTIMATE goals for your ride, 96mean?

Much of what is suggested above may be great for those using them, but may not be good for you. Please read my initial post again and PM me if you have questions. If you really get into the turns, you will replace or remove nearly EVERYTHING suggested above if you were install them!
