Default tire help

I have to get new tires soon and I'm torn between the Nitto 555s and Sumitomos. I want the Nittos but are a little more expensive. My car is not a daily driver so it does sit around for a little while. I have heard good and bad things about the Sumitomos. The car is not raced at all. I just need a good all around tire. any info would be great.

(right click and copy your sig pic and paste it into your sig area of your CP)

This thread is best to be placed in the Tire Rack Tires & Wheels section for future referrence

All Sumi's are not created equal, so you need to give us more info on the model. With that said, the NT555's are a nice all-around tire and will probably suite you quite well, based on your stated needs.

you will be replacing them in 6mos, (I did) they are really soft but the price is appealing

How are those tires? How long do they usually last for you?

I ran those nankang and the inside of the tires were chewed up in a year. Been running some cooper's for over 2 years now with no sign of treadwear yet.

I get a good 30k out of them, keep my pressure at 30* I will continue to buy them as long as they sell them, I just had a new set put on in ga, 382$ out the door and got a 100$ rebate two weeks later. It was worth the drive from B'ham to Ga.

I never had issues as long as my frontend was set correctly.

off topic
I try to stay away from TireRack because shipping is about 50$ shipped to me, they have great prices but the shipping really screws it.

I think you would be best suited to spend just a little more on the Nitto 555's and be much happier with the end result. These are a great all around tire, excellent grip. If you have to replace the other tires sooner, you really haven't saved anything at all.
