Help Tuning My 02 GT
#11
This was 100% valid given the lameness of the OEM tune, and before the advent of the crap-*** E-15 gas. However since that has become the standard and the refineries are counting on cars tuned for the shėt (and the allegedly higher octane of ethanol) it is not the best decision for an "87 octane" tune.
So, the new version applies the following:
87 octane: -0.5° GA and +2.0° across the board in the SBT
91 octane: -0.0° GA and +2.0° across the board in the SBT
93 octane: -2.0° GA and +2.0° across the board in the SBT
The global adder goes on top of whatever the PCM calculated (it's like twisting the distributor in the old days), the SBT values are the limits of what will be used--the PCM may calculate a more advanced timing but the SBT value will rule (then the GA is added).
Obviously this is less aggressive but reasonable with the donkey-**** being passed off as gasoline these days...

Did I mention that this whole ethanol thing is a pile of stinking bullshėt?

OK,
You have the v2.x Special Forces software, and I will assume (I know, ***-u-me) that you have built a tune by selecting 93 octane fuel in the SF Fuel System Description dialog.
If the above is true, AND you know what even subtle pinging sounds like, then you can add up to 2.5° to the global timing--start easy by adding 1.0° and then creeping up on it in 0.5° increments.
Do NOT mess with fueling unless you have a wide band O2 system.

I really do not mean to be offensive, however I cannot provide "Tuning 101" training in in every "how do I tune my engine" post that pops up.
At this point you don't adjust anything--because it appears you do not even understand the difference between timing and fueling settings.
Greg Banish's book is prerequisite to DIY tuning, read it and then ask questions...
Again, I mean no offense--it's just that you need that baseline knowledge before we can intelligently discuss the issues.

It's ignition timing--v1.x applied +2.0° Global Adder (GA), and +2.0° in the Spark Borderline Table (SBT), regardless of the fuel octane selected, the user could then tweak things from there.
