Its not so much the heads, as the heads arent THAT terrible. The cams and the intake are the main reason the NPI cars are turds. My first step for you would be to get gears with this package...

Then if thats not enough get up and go for you, then worry about the h/c/i upgrade. And when you do that, I will suggest something like this to really make it worth your while to do it...

http://modularheadshop.com/heads/piheads.htm#Stage_3_PI_heads_and_cams_combo_packag e_-_$2295_shipped_to_your_door!

Thats nick mckinney's stage 3 head/cam package that is completely assembled ready to bolt onto your motor. And with that setup I would run the PI intake manifold and you'd be good for about 310+rwhp or more, depending on cam spec and other bolt on's.

But start with gears and exhaust, but dont do exhaust for performance or you will be disappointed. Do it to make your car sound like its supposed to sound.

I would get a dyno tune. I believe the 98 gt only makes like 225hp, its pretty **** poor!

Budget is pretty slim currently. I was drained by the TA. LT1 constantly broke, I had it 3 months and went thru 3 optis. I finally got rid of that POS and now have this sweet little clean Mustang. If I can come across good deals, I will pick them up but now I am doing brakes (Slotted rotors) it has the 17" wheels but will be looking for a cobra style wheel soon, suspension as I will go thru the front end and have it alligned and possibly lowered and we will see after that. It is an auto, how can I get it to shift firmer?? A 4.6 in a car that light should chirp the tires??

no you tell me!!! Auto's, first mods should always be gears and a tuner!!! Tuner will firm up those shifts real nice and also show a slight performance gain.

This is easy then... 4.30s/Tuner/offroad midpipe (X or H) then save up for a PI Swap or a new top end (H/C/I). Go with an SCT tuner....AMERICANMUSCLE.COM IS YOUR FRIEND!!!!! lol
