These are reliable engines. They pretty much last forever, if you take care of em. With 03-04's, there are really no known issues, as they were the last years of the 2v GT. Pretty solid, worked all the kinks out. Decent platform for starting on. You can pick up a GT with 40-60K miles for about 7K average. Good luck.
