3rd gear issues
OK, a couple of things guys. I have noticed while driving normally my car shifts fine into all gears but when I bring it up to the redline from 1st -3rd, I have some issues. I notice when I shift into 2nd just before redline it's a little hard to get in and when I shift to 3rd at redline it seems to not let me in for a second or so, then it would give way and let me shift into 3rd. There isn't any noises or grinding, just seems like there is pressure not letting me shift into 2nd easily and even harder to shift into 3rd. Recently I had a new clutch put in Click here.
Did I cheap out on a clutch? Are my synchro's just getting old? Did I not break in my clutch properly? Or was the install just bad? Let me know guys, this **** is irritating me.

there have been plenty of threads on this. Could be the syncros going. Cliff posted a TSB on it but I forget where to find it. If you search long enough I'm sure you will find it in some thread. It's basically a small rebuild of the tranny. This is assuming you have put the corrected amount of fluid in. My 04 does it, stock clutch, firewall adjuster/quadrant but with an MGW. A adjuster/quadrant MAY help due to the stock parts bending under hard shifts but I don't have any proof of that being true...just something I have heard as a possibility.
My next step is a adjuster/quadrant since it can only help and they are not expensive plus an easy install from what I've seen/read.

That is exactly what the overfill of fluid does--too much oil creates a hydrostatic locking of the shift rods and detents, which fights their full motion...

To be certain you need to drain it and refill with 3.2qts of Mercon or Mercon equivalent ATF.
I ran RP Synchromax for a couple years, however when my source for that at a reasonable price dried up I used Mobil 1 ATF and find it to provide much smoother shifting.
M1 is also on Tremec's recommended list for the 3650:
If it's never been changed then it has the 3.8qts put in at the factory, or if someone had it change at Jiffy-Lube it may have 4+ qts because the idiots loaded it up all the way to the filler hole.

It's my first manual car and I'm still learning about it.
