Default Help BBK Cai rubber adapter cracked.

So I've slowly noticed that there is a whistling noise on acceleration, and its been getting louder. Today I looked under the hood, and the rubber adapter that joins the intake pipe to the throttle body is cracked in half. Need some advice here. I just emailed BBK about getting a replacement piece, but is there anything I can do to temporarily seal it? I'm guessing some sort of tape, but do I need anything special or just duct tape? I tried to buy a replacement my local autozone, but they only carry K&N parts, and didnt have anything similiar. Oh yeah, forgot to say that its a 1999 Cobra.

check a couple other auto stores, i know the oreillys i used to go to had a ton of rubber connectors.

home depot or lowes may have something as well.

and as far as sealing it, i'm sure duct tape will work fine TEMPORARILY. may be a little messy to clean up later after the engine heats it all up and stuff but it'll make it so you can drive. having trouble thinking of a slightly better solution but oh well.

i'm sure you can find something that will fit on ebay as well. BBK will probably take you 9 days to respond to the email, then take 15 days to send the part.

K, thanks that's what I was thinking as well. I'm finding it rather easy to find perfectly round adapters online, but it appears that for the cobra's they have to be more of an oval? I'll check out some other stores in the next couple days and see though.

edit-wow can't believe I seriously just failed to realize that a circle bends into an oval.. So disregard that, I went out and measured and know what I need now, thanks for the help.

Damn dude, you make it sound like BBK is an ex-girlfriend who banged your friend and then ran over your dog lol! Actually, I agree anyway that they're not the best out there for sure, but the few things of theirs I've bought have been problem free for a few years now. My cai and it's silicone adapters still look as nice as the day I put it on. The biggest issue I have with BBK and mostly why I'll avoid them in the future is their installation instructions suck *****. Not that they necessarily make comparable products but companies like MM for instance have such well detailed instructions that I'd almost be comfortable having my wife install one of their phb's on my car, and she can barely pump her own gas!

Instead of duct tape, use metal tape. You can find it at home improvement stores. I've had to use it under the hood of my car before, and works great. Won't burn up with all the heat under there.
