Default Power pipe VS Vortech air intake

Still have to get a few parts for my SC build and was wondering if it would be worth getting the Anderson power pipe or just stick with the Vortech air intake assembly? Price difference is about $30.

Get the power pipe for sure. It can only help and for just $30 more why not?

I won't be running a FMIC anytime soon unless I run into problems when the AZ temps start creating issues.

I think your air filter is going to be in the same location regardless of running a powerpipe vs. the vortech intake piping.

That is one thing that is bad about vortech kits the air filter is located inches above the ground and my air filter always gets soaked in the rain and causes my car to miss.

1) arizona is WAY too freaking hot to even think about not running an intercooler....
2) the difference is not 30 bucks. the power pipe doesnt come with the BPV and such that the vortech intake does
3) its cheaper just to make your own 'power pipe'
4) a power pipe will typically add about 1lb of boost, its not really worth it to buy it just for that reason your on a stock bottom end, you can max your block out before you max the blowers potential out.

It does not rain here much, but during monsoon season it pours so I guess I will need to be very careful.

Yeah I am surprised I don't hear a lot more complaining about this.

As I said and you probably already know, vortech stupidly has you affix the air filter/MAF sensor in the front right tire fenderwell right above the exposed ground. Even with a brand new splash guard in place the air filter gets dripping wet in rainy conditions and the car runs erratically. Maybe I am one of the only ones with this problem but that doesn't seem likely to me.

If you are doing a FMIC (with blow-thru MAF sensor) I would almost consider attaching your air filter directly to the head unit or in such a way to have the air filter located within the engine bay. However, this would require not using vortech's piping or a powerpipe unless modified like I think ox said he did for his setup.

thats why i say just put the airfilter directly on the head unit, it would be nearly impossible to get it wet. then with the $215 you save, go out and buy an intercooler
